Artist Chris Cudlip is a sculptor based in Southampton, specialising in classical figurative work, studio ceramics and woodcarving.
A skilled portrait sculptor he is available for commissions, usually working from life. If a sitter isn't available then he is able to create an accurate likeness from photographs. The end result can be either cast in bronze or fired in terracotta clay.
He is also a public artist with a diverse skill base including brick sculpture and chainsaw carving. Recent work includes a relief sculpture sited in part of the medieval walls of Southampton. http://www.aspacearts.org.uk/projects/public-art-commisions/nexus-public-sculpture/ Part of his practice references environmental issues, for example life-size animals recreated from recycled milk bottles and and his large scale painted woodcarvings of animals. He also carves unique puppets for use in street performance. Chris teaches figurative sculpture and ceramics at his studio and is often asked to facilitate workshops in schools and community groups.
